| Preface
In this photoalbum you find photos of monkeys. The monkey is widely seen as the animal closest to humans. Some species of monkeys have 96% of their DNA in common with humans.
Monkeys live in all continents (Europe: on the rock of Gibraltar), except for Australia. However the most kinds of monkeys occur in Africa, Asia and South-America.
Some species only live high up in trees, other live on the ground, like baboons. In general monkeys are social animals that always live in groups. Fightings nevertheless happen very often.
Some monkeys still occur in large numbers, like baboons in southern Africa, but some species are near to exctinction, such as mountain gorillas in Uganda.
